A Brief Perspective of the Sustainable Development Goals

WRITTEN BY: Asanya Boluwatife Ndidi The unanimous agreement of the 193 member states of the United Nations General Assembly to the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development in 2015 produced one of the most ambitious and inclusive global aspirations in history. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a collection of 17 interlinked global goals designed to be a blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. Targeted at committing members states to ensure greater inclusivity, end poverty and push the world to a more sustainable path. The SDGs are broad and interdependent thus begetting the question as to how well these broad global aspirations are likely to result in implementable developments especially in developing countries. The inclusion of so many goals without a hierarchy of priority and without reference to inherent contradictions that are likely to result in conflict between the goals may have unintended negative consequences which may inhibit the timely/e

TIME

Time

The first gift that was given to you, the day you are born is TIME

Every man is given a time frame to attain his purpose, to discover his passion, to maximize his potential. You might be thinking that things are not going at it were or you have worn away in decision making but the most significant thing a man has is TIME

 So, what is time?

Time is the indefinite continued progress of existence and events that occur in apparently irreversible succession from the past, through the present, into the future. (Wikipedia)

 From the definition, there are some factors we need to consider;

• Time is indefinite.

• Time measures progress.

• Time is irreversible.

• Time occurs in phases which are: the past, present, and future.

This is a quote from a well-known cartoon Kung Fu Panda

"Yesterday is a history, tomorrow is a mystery but today is a gift": Oogway

Every day of our life is a gift given to us by our creator. Every day is an opportunity to restructure, reschedule, re-strategize, and to reflect on our priority.

What's your priority?

What's your plan?

 Time is a gift

You might be thinking that this year did not go according to your plan. Whatever that might have happened is an opportunity to identify what matters and what doesn't, which is reflecting on yourself to identify your priority.

Time is a measure of progress. The fastest runner is identified by time which is speed. The fastest car is identified by time. The most important element of life is TIME.

The question here is "How have you spent your time?"

Myles Munroe said; "who you are and what you become is determined by what and who you spend your time with"

In physics, the most common factor is "Time".

  Time defines everything

Most billionaires say "Time is money". Otherwise known as time is a currency that can be controlled, spent, invest but can't be reversed.

You might be thinking that "I have a plan but it is not the right time to execute"

Let me burst your bubble; there is a time to plan and there is a time to execute.

Do you want to know when the right time is?

Answer: NOW

"Now is the time"

The issue we have as humans is that we don't want to make mistakes, we want everything to go perfectly well as planned.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Life is not designed to your favor.

Assuming, life is designed to your favor, then we are in control of our time.

" The trouble is, you think you have time"  Jack Kornfield

If you want life to work in your favor, you need to learn "How to maximize your time"

These are the ten ways to maximize your time (derived from Myles Munroe "redeeming the time")

1. Document your plan.

2. Establish your plan.

3. Pursue your passion only.

4. Protect your time and your priority from other people's interest.

5. Identify your value

6. Make decisions base on your priority.

7. Reflect on your relationships.

8. Review your investment.

9. Don't try to please everyone.

"Humans will help you do nothing but they will do things without you"

10. Forget the past and pursue and design the future.

"You have been wasting your time, forget about the past. Don't be your own depression"

Lastly, create time to relax, to have fun but most importantly be focused on your priority.
